Our Qualifications
Mike Engler, the founder and owner of Community Pride Financial Advisors, was born in Massachusetts and grew up in Baltimore, where he attended Loyola High School. In 1975, he graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy and was commissioned as an active duty Naval Officer. Serving as a Surface Warfare Officer, his tours of duty included extensive time in Europe, the Caribbean and throughout the United States.
In 1980, Mike began his career in the financial services industry. Since that time, he has worked for such firms as Merrill Lynch, BGS&G Inc., Alex. Brown & Sons and New York Life. Mike founded Community Pride Financial Advisors in 1994 and is a fully licensed independent insurance agent. He is also a Registered Representative of Cambridge Investment Research Inc., a Registered Broker/Dealer, Member FINRA/SIPC.
With more than 27 years experience, Mike specializes in working with gay and lesbian individuals, couples and small businesses. He prefers clients seriously interested in a long term, mutually beneficial relationship. Being independent allows Mike to spend a lot of time with his clients listening to their needs and concerns, helping them set goals, educating them about money and providing personal service. As a result, Community Pride Financial Advisors has not only grown rapidly, but Mike truly enjoys meeting and making friends with members of his own community.
Mike is a former board member and volunteer with Chase Brexton Health Services. He has worked with Free State Justice/Equality Maryland and the Human Rights Campaign, and has testified in Annapolis and Washington for civil rights issues concerning gays and lesbians. He is also a member of the Service Academy Gay and Lesbian Alumni Association and USNA Out. Numerous articles have been written about him in various local, national and trade publications.
